About Creatures for Comfort
Creatures For Comfort is an exciting arm of our company 'Crazy Creatures' education & encounters.
Born from our experience and passion for bringing animals and people together, we specialize in some fantastic concepts with our specialist field of ‘Creature Comfort’ for SEN, Autism, wellbeing, vision/hearing impairments, disabilities, charities, mental health and rehabilitation.
We are husband & wife team Ian and Amy Tite, based in beautiful Minstead, New Forest. We have a wealth of experience keeping and working with all kinds of animals from equine to avian, mammal & reptile, and we came to recognize the outstanding benefits of these bringing these creatures close to people of all abilities and ages. We are now privileged to witness these benefits first-hand from learning to brush and lead miniature horses, to stroking and petting or holding smaller reptiles or birds.
Ian is qualified as a level 3 Animal Assisted Therapy practitioner, and has been working in these environments over the past decade. He has extensive experience and a fantastic way with both children and adults to put them at ease and offer unique, calm, sensory experiences to those who may otherwise miss the chance to get up close and benefit from these incredible animals. Amy is also a qualified Mental Health first aider. Many of our concepts include transferable skills for young people to engage with the animals and people/education settings.
We have been proud to work in the past alongside NHS, councils, SEN charities, youth centres/day centres, children’s homes, therapists, rehab centres, Julia’s House, Naomi hospice, SEN schools and many more.
Many of our regular young people are on an EHCP and/or EATOS programme.
Our premises allows for perfect surroundings for calm, exclusive assisted therapy, as well as residential options with our lovely self-contained 3 en-suite bedroom B&B lodge including family suite and SEND/sensory friendly children's room.
We can offer specific tailored sessions for both individual parents/carers (VIP visits for Autistic and SEN children/adults) up to large schools/charities/groups (all disabilities catered for, and mobile visits fully accessible). We are also happy to work alongside counsellors and therapists. We can even arrange BSL, lip speakers and signing interpreters for hearing impaired.
Our specialist small team of creatures have been very carefully selected for this type of work, and are extensively temperament assessed, very calm and gentle. Combined with Ian's expertise, this offers the perfect introduction to animals, and the scientific evidence and experience proves that creatures offer the following benefits and much more;
